I started taking pictures of Bob Jones high school football in the fall of 2000 when my son Luke was a Sophomore. I used a borrowed Olympus 2.2 MP digital camera from Judge Wayne Wolfe. The first game was at Hewitt-Trussville in rainy conditions trying to get a few pictures of seniors, Brandon Cox and Lee Guess who both later played for Auburn. Within a couple of years, I bought my own Olympus 3.3 MP but still ran into big issues trying to get decent quality in low-light conditions. I got a few good shots of my twins playing baseball and football during day games but still struggled in low-light. Within a couple of more years, I purchased a Canon 20D and a Canon 85mm 1.8 lens. I was able to start taking pictures of volleyball and AAU basketball with the new equipment with good success. The image quality hit a new level and then jumped even higher when I started shooting with a Canon 50D and Canon 80-200mm 2.8 lens. The shots below are some of my favorites.
